The Bologna International Committee for the Cartography and the Analysis of Contemporary World is a study and research group created thanks to a co-operation agreement between the History, Anthropology and Geography Department of Bologna University and the French monthly magazine Le Monde diplomatique in November 2006. Its aim is to start a common research and documentation activity on the transformations affecting the contemporary world. Members of the Committee are Alberto De Bernardi, Carlo Galli (President), Carla Giovannini, Raffaele Laudani (Director), Philippe Rekacewicz, Dominique Vidal.
Founding Partners
- The History, Anthropology and Geography Department of Bologna University was founded in 1983 and is headed by Mr. Gian Paolo Brizzi. It involves academics and teachers from five different Faculties: Philosophy and Letters, Educational Sciences, Economics, Political Sciences, Foreign Languages and Literatures. Department staff members practice a wide range of historical approaches and are engaged in a broad spectrum of research areas, periods (from the Middle Ages to the present day) and themes (history of religions, historical geography, archivistics, history of historiography, history of cultures and civilisations, history of cities, economic and social history, history of institutions, history of political thought, history of European and non European countries).
- Le Monde diplomatique is a monthly magazine focused on international politics, offering detailed analyses and opinion about the main geopolitical, economic, social, and environmental topics of the contemporary world. It was first created as a supplement of the daily “Le Monde” in 1954 and turned independent form the editorial, financial, and legal point of view in 1996. “Le Monde diplomatique” publishes 67 international editions, with about 1,5 million readers world-wide. It also publishes “Manières de voir” and the ”Atlas du Monde diplomatique”. It is headed by Mr. Serge Halimy.
